In Feng Shui, the unicorn is also known as the ‘dragon horse’, an animal believed to be able to transfer benevolence, gentleness and goodwill to all other living creatures. Tradition holds that the unicorn will only appear when a benevolent leader is in charge or at the birth of a very special child. If you know someone who has just had a baby, gifting them with any image of a unicorn will bring that child great fortune and luck! Blue Lotus

Feng Shui tip for January 30th from Astrology.com

Daily Feng Shui Tip for Wednesday,

 January 30 from Astology.comBowl_flowers

On this day in 1948 an assassin aimed his gun and did what we all tell everyone everyday NOT to do. He shot the messenger. Mahatma Ghandi died 60 years ago today. And, while he lay dying, he looked his murderer right in the face and there and then, before he breathed his last, forgave him. Honor the memory and the man by reaching out today and actively forgiving someone who has in some manner hurt you. If you can’t find it in your heart to take these steps then at least forgive them in your head. It’s a start.

Spiritual Significance of the Lenten Season

Posted by roseredd on January 30, 2008

Spiritual Significance of the Lenten Season;

From the words of Corinne Heline; The Mystery of the Christos

Just as Advent is the time of preparation for the Christmas Mysteries, Lenten season is the time of preparation for the Easter Mysteries. This is the when we do the soul work to prepare us to receive the inflow of energy of this holy time.

To early students of the Christian Mysteries, the Lent season was not just a forty day period of selective fasting and prayer as it is today. It was a specific time when there was a deep searching of the heart and soul. A candid look was taken of the past year in the life of each one and the meaning and essence of this time period was studied and prayed upon.

There are three degrees which prepare a person to enter into the Easter Mysteries, just as there were three degrees to enter into the Christmas Mysteries. But the Christmas mysteries were beautiful and tender, the work centered in the love of the heart. This is the water element,  and the energy is considered feminine.

In the three degrees of the Easter Mysteries the work is difficult and the self-discipline strenuous. It calls for the development and expression of a firm and concentrated will. The energy is masculine and the nature is of the fire element.

At this time one would dedicate the powers of his will and commit all his strength to accomplish the work he has planned for this time period.  One should of course pursue a personal, physical practice like some degree of fasting, ie: eliminating caffeine: that is a constant reminder during their daily life of what is going on mentally and spiritually.

And on a spiritual level, much time should be spent alone. Use this to evaluate yourself and your life in a clear and honest way. If you are ill, in your heart you know why. If you are poor or doing without, you also know how to correct this. Take a good look at yourself and be honest. Remember this is a private thing; you do not have to ‘fess up’ to anyone but yourself.  In fact and in truth, one must learn what it means to ‘walk alone.’

‘The Esoteric purpose of the Easter mysteries is to allow one to enter into a state of conscious awareness and enable him to gain freedom from the physical body, not only during hours of sleep and between earth lives, but at whatsoever time he may choose, so he may become a conscious Invisible Helper at any or all times as may be required, either on this plane or in the realms of the spirit.’

The steps to attain his level have naturally always been very difficult and require much hard work. Such gifts of the spirit are not handed to us lightly. We are taught that the tests encountered by each person are in accordance with his spiritual status. The farther one advances upon the Path, the more subtle and penetrating are its trials. But none could compare in severity with those experienced by Christ Jesus, for no one possesses His spiritual strength and power.

We also know that few if any ever walk a straight and narrow path perfectly. We often stumble and flounder and get side tracked as human do. What we as initiates must do is just to keep forging ahead and do our best. When we fall, pick ourselves up and continue on our journey.

The End will be Better than the Beginning.

Coming soon, the Lent season

Posted by roseredd on January 29, 2008

Coming Soon, the Lent Season

Lent, in most Christian belief systems is the forty-day period of fasting and prayer before Easter.    The forty days represent the time Jesus spent in the desert, where, according to the Bible, he endured temptation by Satan. Different churches will calculate the forty days differently.
The purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer—through prayer, penitence, almsgiving and self-denial—for the annual commemoration of the death and resurection of Christ, as celebrated during Holy Week, which recalls the events linked to the Passion of Christ and culminates in Easter.
Lent lasts from Ash Wednesday until Holy Saturday. This year Lent begins on February 6th. We need to begin to contemplate if we wish to do Blue Lotusany personal practices during this holy time. Give yourself some time to think and reflect, there is no need to share this with anyone. This is between you and your Higher Power. I think practicing the silence is most powerful.
Sometimes we talk things to death, and then in the end, ultimately do nothing. We have used all our energy talking about what we are going to do and what it means. So make your plans and your commitment if you wish to do so.   More on lent later,  Lela

Feng Shui Tip for Tuesday, January 29th

Posted by roseredd on January 29, 2008

Here is your Daily Feng Shui Tip for Tuesday, January 29
From Astrology.com

If you didn’t get the holiday bonus that you know you deserve, or — worse yet — you didn’t get one at all, today’s the day to start to turn those energies around. Burn three green candles on either your kitchen or your dining room table. Three is widely considered the number of both growth AND change while the fire illuminates your ‘Fame’ or recognition factor. Green, of course, is a color that stimulates prosperity. Go ahead, go green and get what you deserve.”

Mercury Retro

Posted by roseredd on January 27, 2008

While the three-week Mercury reversal – about to start tomorrow at 10:32PM in Aquarius - may be perceived by many astrology students and professionals as a negative time-period, it is really a very inspirational cycle when you can go far within on the learning curve.

Retrograde passages of Mercury should be thought of as opportunities to correct past mistakes and fine-tune your verbal, mental and literary skills – not as bad time-spans when you are more prone to losing things, making poor decisions, and signing faulty agreements.

Whether Mercury is forward or moving in reverse, human beings are going to err, fall away from the higher path of life, and become their own worst enemies.

Nevertheless, if you are scared of what the coming Mercury retrograde cycle is about to bring, then you may want to complete important undertakings today or early Monday morning before the official Mercury shift.

In the meantime, zero in on health and dietary concerns while the Sun makes a connection with Saturn 9:22AM. Go over insurance policies with a fine-tooth comb as Venus makes an  link to Vesta. Protecting your material assets and investments is also a keynote today. Fortunately, Venus moves on to make a mentally-stimulating  quintile aspect with revolutionary Uranus.

Put some pizzazz into your creative artistic expression. Keep a special notebook near your bed to record vivid dreams and amazing visions - thanks to a Moon-Neptune harmonious trine that becomes precise at 8:03AM PST tomorrow morning.

The Right thing for the Right Reason

Posted by roseredd on January 26, 2008

Always do the right thing for the right reason.

But what is tOMhe right thing and the right reason?

Whenever you  wonder what to do, whenever you  are confronted by doubt as to what direction to take, even before you look to your dream and your vision, and go in that direction, ask yourself a couple of questions.

Will this reflect the divine within me?    The true picture of who and what my soul represents?  That is your purpose in life, your soul is a sacred essence and you are to strive to fulfill its divine purpose on earth, whatever that may be.

If you are not sure you want to do that, and it doesn’t sound like much fun, it still may be what your inner guidance is suggesting you do. You may feel conflicted, but you need to remove your personal and physical desires from the picture completely and allow your being to be suffused with a loving energy. Face yourself calmly and quietly and know the truth. When you say things like, ‘I ask for divine order, or I ask for right action, or higher good,’ what you are really choosing is simply truth.

Ultimately we may end up doing great and wonderful things on earth, that are the ‘truth‘ for the soul. It was its reason for being born. It’s what it was trying to do all the time. All we have to do is get out of the way.

So even though we know we can’t feed the hungry when we are scratching for food ourselves, and we can’t provide a warm place for someone to sleep when we do not have a place to lay our own heads, and yes, sometimes its hard to live with one foot in two different worlds, but  don’t ever take your eye off the bigger picture.   Lela

Feng Shui tip from Astrology.com

Posted by roseredd on January 26, 2008

Dear Lela,

Here is your Daily Feng Shui Tip for Saturday, January 26

Reflect on this for a bit: what do you see when you pass any mirror in your house? Is the image something sweet that adds to or enhances the balance and beauty in the room or is the reflection something you would rather not see? If it’s the latter either change the position of the mirror or the placement of what it’s reflecting and come face to face with an interior action step that will immediately raise the good ‘Chi’ of your space.

Warm Regards,
Ellen Whitehurst

Thin Places

Posted by roseredd on January 26, 2008

Hello everyone, following is a segment of an email I received this morning from a friend who has moved to the North Eastern part of the U.S. She sent a blanket email to all on her email list. She lived several years in the Village; I believe she was the comptroller.  I wanted to share this with all of you.

‘Apologies for the blanket e-note; however I have been remiss in correspondence with everyone for the past year.

It is a veritable winter wonderland here.  There has been 60 inches of snow for December and winter hasn’t started yet! Good thing I love to shovel because I am getting my exercise.  I do believe that every season here has been majestic.  Something magical happens when I enter the Saint John River Valley.

It resonates from deep in the fiber of my being. It is a feeling that I have left one part of this world and stepped into another.  I have always been able to find spots where this world and the world of spirit come closer together.

Truly I now live in a land that the Celtics refer to as thin places“. Mindful that reality is subjective and not all of you would feel this.  My mom came to visit in August and thought she was at the end of the world, for me it is the beginning.    Bambi (my dog) and I spent the summer exploring dirt roads and walking through woods and wheat and potato fields.” From Lynne

The phrase ‘thin places’ caught my eye and ear and I had to write to all of you about it. I had heard of this before but never looked into it much. In case you aren’t aware of this, ‘thin places’ refer to places that are considered sacred and the veil between the worlds is very thin.  I realized that the feeling we get at the labyrinth made it a ‘thin place.’

I think they are different things for different people, I know I have many and often assume others do also. My meditation area, the feeling I get by just pulling on my prayer shawl, the fragrance of different oils, and many times just certain music.

I think my favorite, and the one I encountered most often, is just outside when the wind is blowing and its misting rain.  After spending 14 years in the seminary it is probably to be expected that I would have this feeling more often.

Pay attention and see if you can find your own ‘thin places.’ Do a search on Yahoo or some other search engine. Just type in the words ‘Thin Places’ and see what comes up. Read some of the articles and see if you can get a better feel for what I am talking about.

     Blessings to you, Lela

Things to Think About

Posted by roseredd on January 26, 2008

Things to think about

Tomorrow is New Years Day. It is hard to believe another year has gone by, but don’t we say that every New Years Eve? Science believes that time is moving faster than it ever has.

From one of the websites—I can’t remember which one—I read that for thousands of years the Schumann Resonance or pulse (heartbeat) of the earth has been 7.93 cycles per second. The military have used this as a very reliable reference.

However, since 1980 this resonance has been slowly rising. It is now over 12 cycles per second! This mean there is the equivalent of less than 16 hours per day instead of the old 24 hours. (I believe there is some kind of reference to this in the Mayan prophecies also) Its not your imagination, time really is flying by!

So I guess that means we must hurry up and do all the wonderful things we had always planned to do with our lives. At the very least we should not sit around bemoaning the fact that we are getting older and have lost our fire and enthusiasm.

We have lost nothing physically that is even half as important as what we have gained mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The Wisdom and peace that comes with my old age I would not trade for 100 young and beautiful bodies. (well, maybe I’d think about that!)

If the body is shot, use your brain, and your heart and your soul.

This is the best time of all. I finally have a little common sense. Not a lot, but some!

I know most people don’t like to make New Years Resolutions, but 2008 is a ‘1’ year. Such an opportunity to get some new things going. New beginnings, new ideas, new hope. Things are going to change, there is major shifting going on. But its also going to be a very grounding year.

One of those periods of time where you ‘put your money where your mouth is’. We need to take control of our lives, quietly but with will and determination.  Many of us as women don’t realize the impact we have on the lives of our families. (when Mom has a good day, everyone has a good day, and visa versa) We are often the ‘sun’ or center of energy whether we know it or not.  Our energy and thinking is reflected back on everyone around us. We cook for them, care for them, their lives move in and out of ours. What an opportunity to have an impact that will be positive.

They live their lives in an environment that we have chosen. We decorate the house, we choose a lot of the music and TV shows. We even decide how the air is going to smell! For the majority of the time, they are in our space, we are not in theirs.

This can be a great legacy to leave and lessons taught quietly without the preaching and lecturing that usually accompanies us ‘telling others how to live their lives.’

Take what you have at this moment and run with it. Build on it, no matter how small the results may seem, or how many obstacles you see in your path.

Perhaps your new resolutions should consist of things like, getting an extra hour of sleep every night, or cutting sugar out of your diet. But start somewhere and build on it.

One final thought, according to CEP this year 2008 is ‘more significant than it has been given credit. We need to be prepared for how we can play our part and stay on our path’.

We need to share our wisdom. Remember the saying, ‘Each one, bless one.’ That says it all.

Shine Your Light

Posted by roseredd on January 26, 2008

Good Monday Morning,
     An excerpt below from the Daily Om;

Every move we make has an effect that touches all the people around us. On an even more subtle level, when we share space with another person, we often pick up on their energy, feeling how they feel and attuning to them, whether we mean to or not. This is what we mean when we say a mood or a feeling is contagious. We cannot help but be part of the realities of the people around us because we take form from the same energetic force, and this force unifies all life. This force is the light that all the great mystics and gurus encourage us to move toward, and it is the light we will dissolve into when we move beyond our individual egos.’

I don’t know who writes these pages from the Daily Om, but I just love them. I hope all of you receive this in your mailbox daily. Expanding on the above subject, I often try to explain this to others and never have been able to say it as well as they have here. This is the same onslaught of energy that we receive from each other at our full moon services and other spiritual gatherings. The impact it has on me is probably the most noticeable!

Another thought I have is that this is something we should be conscious of at all times. When someone comes into the same ‘space/room’ where you are, pay attention to the energy they put out and perhaps what you are putting out also.

This is excellent practice for those wanting to become more psychic or intuitive. Personally, I think intuitive is more desirable as I believe Psychism is often cloudy and not always very accurate.

Sometimes all of us get into situations that have very bad energy and we need to get away from that as soon as possible. If you are in a situation, like a sick room, or at a death bed, bring in your own positive light and energy to dissipates the grief and sadness that surrounds everyone. Get all medication out of sight if possible, try peaceful music and maybe a backrub. (Fragrance is important also, that’s why everyone hates hospitals.)

Absolutely refuse to stay around anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and limit time spent with those who are suicidal or mentally ill. I know this sounds cold hearted, but unless you can ‘fix’ them, they are damaging you. You can’t help them if you become as ill as they are. If this is your ’service’ work, keep it limited to say an hour a day, or something reasonable.

I have the same new years resolution that I have had for many years, Every day I am going to be happy no matter what I have to do or change to make this happen. No one else is in charge of our happiness, its up to us.

Hope all of you are well,

      Lela

Grokking

Posted by roseredd on January 26, 2008

I had the most wonderful meditation this morning, and wanted to share my experience with all of you. I will have to make a ‘short story long’ because I want to tell you how I am doing my meditation and prayer requests.

A few years ago, I was doing a report/presentation on Shamanism. This is one of the most fascinating forms of spiritualism I have ever encountered, and I really dug into it and wanted to experience it first hand.

I actually did find a Shaman and went and interviewed him and ended up taking a ‘journey’ to the inner world which I have never forgotten. But what I want to discuss here is another form that I learned about. Hawaiian Shamanism.

As you know there are and have always been Shamans and Medicine people all over the world and of course they would have different beliefs and ways of doing things. Well, Hawaiian Shamans do something called Grokking. Yes, you are saying it right. Like choking only with a G.

I understand Grokking is practiced even today, and I know for a fact that I now practice it also.

An example would be, whenever there is an earthquake somewhere on the planet, and Hawaii is in danger of being hit with a tsunami, Shamans from all over the world get together mentally and Grok the tsunami wave.

This is done by mentally interjecting yourself into the wave, and becoming a part of this powerful force and then as the wave is surging toward land, they all work together to dissipate it. They make it slow down and become gentle. Or split and go around the islands.

I have often thought I would like someone to paint this picture for me, as it is so strong and powerful in my mind. I see myself in the front of this wave or storm cloud with the wind blowing in so strong. Just flying across the ocean.  And then gradually and gently release this rain and dissipate the storm, or calm down the oceans.

I can’t tell you how many times I have used this technique with powerful thunderstorms here in Oklahoma!

Well, I have adapted this technique to use for world healing meditations and recently for my personal prayer lists.

At the beginning of my meditation in the morning, the first thing I do is visualize myself in this healing cloud and I move over the house of each one on my list or every family member or friend—I have been going over the house of each one of you—first I pour down the white light of healing and then the cobalt blue light of protection. Then I go on to the next house, and when I am finished with Stilwell, I move on to cover the entire state on my way to Texas and then the West Coast and finally over to the East Coast.

I actually go on to Iran, Iraq and Israel and any trouble spots and finally fly completely around the planet and pour down healing light and protection.

I have been doing this regularly and each day my meditation is deeper and more profound, so much so that I am convinced there is much good work being done here. I am asking each one of you to try to adapt a similar kind of work and see what we can all do together.

If I have not explained this very well, please let me know.

The Bamboo Family

Posted by roseredd on January 26, 2008

FEATURE ARTICLEThe Bamboo Family:
Raw Food Pioneers Living A Life They Love
I first met Jackie in Costa Rica. As soon as I met this lively character I bombarded her with questions like no one had ever done before. I was so curious and excited by who she was and how she lived with her family in the jungles of Costa Rica!! And over time I got the chance to know her better and after several requests, she finally allowed me to share with others a window into her world. As a family they live in the heart of the jungle making it out to the neighboring towns and cities about once a month as a family. The rest of the teim, they bask in what is for them a blissful, natural life. At the crack of sun, the family jumps to their feet, sharpens their machetés and gets on with the busy day of life on the fruit farm. By the time most of us are getting up to wipe the sleep out of our eyes, this lively bunch has already put in a good 3 hours of hard physical labor. When you talk about eating well, being fit, getting proper sun and rest… well, you realize what a struggle it is for most of us because we no longer live in a natural environment. Jackie, her husband Doug and their children; Julianna (17), Olivia (15), Giovanni (13),  and Aureliano (7) live about as close as you could get to a natural, pioneering lifestyle. We trust you’ll appreciate her tips wisdom and time. (In her writing, she calls me their “adopted cub” because she really has done a lot to “take me in” and offer me a great deal of support and kindness throughout the time we have known each other.)

Practical Tips for Happy Living from A Modern Day Diva-Turned Raw Pioneering Jungle Mama

Tera (our adopted cub) has asked us to give an idea of our lifestyle and diet.  We’re very reluctant to do so, for most people think we are too extreme.  We think of ourselves as Pioneers ~ Old Style ~ working and loving the land!  Also, we’ve been creating our lifestyle for the last 26 years and don’t honestly believe that if we jumped into it as is, we’d necessarily like it.  So, why would anybody else?  We can give some guidelines to live up to!

Our diet is constantly improving!  We’ve been 80% Raw from Ann Wigmore, Viktorus Kulvinskus and The Biogenic Society since ‘81 when my husband and I met at a small
Natural Health College.  We’ve lived in Costa Rica on about 60 acres for over 15 years with plenty of wild greens, fruit trees and bamboo.  We’ve been 100% Raw for two years and are now about 90%, which is more comfortable for us at this time.

We truly believe in self-sufficiency, have no workers other than our four children ages 16-10, who were all born at home with only family attendance.  It would be reasonable to assume that we grow all our own food ~ would if we could!  Unfortunately, our climate will not allow for most veggies.  So, we have organic friends in the mountains who bring us a weekly delivery ~ we also provide this service to neighbor friends.  A horse, goat, chickens, banties, bunnies, Russian hamsters, parakeets and a mouse complete our family right now.  We take care of our farm all morning ~ have school all afternoon.  To Some This Is Boring ~ To Us Bliss!
Life is a fantastically, wonderful journey of joy and lessons, which when learned should be seen for the blessings they are.  Quick fixes don’t usually work!  Everybody is different and needs to find out what works for themselves.Hopefully the list below can give some ideas of where to start!75 Simple Living Strategies for an Ideal Life

Monday starts a new Mercury Retrograde, lasting until February 19th. Here is some interesting information on this subject.

MERCURY
RETROGRADE

Murphy’s Law
as defined in the cosmos

Sometimes, stuff just happens. If you’re concerned that the cosmos has it in for you, check the table below to see if Mercury might have been retrograde.

Retrograde Mercury is the most commonly known astrological signature for Murphy’s Law (“If something can go wrong, it will”), and is one of the first features intermediate astrology students learn about. Say it to a seasoned astrologer and you’ll likely get an amused smile and some delightful stories about how things can get quite unexpectedly unhinged.

Computers crash, software develops unexpected glitches, traffic jams ensue, telephone service snarls up, letters get lost on the mail, machinery breaks down, new projects fail. Ah, yes, the trickster Mercury is up to his old pranks again. In fact, at least three times a year for about three weeks each time Mercury has his way with us.

First let’s look at what Mercury retrograde is, and then look at what can be done about it.

Those of a keen astronomical bent actually watch the planets each night as they travel through the zodiac. Mercury, which is only visible just before sunrise or just after sunset travels in a forward direction most of the time.

But three or four times a year, if you care to watch carefully, it appears to turn around and go backwards for about three weeks! Now Mercury really isn’t going backwards. It’s just an optical illusion based on the relative speeds and orbits of the Earth and Mercury around the Sun.

Here’s an easy example. Think of riding in a fast car on an expressway which is passing a slower-moving car. The slower moving car appears to be moving backward, but it isn’t really. It’s just the relative speed and direction of the two cars gives that illusion. Retrograde Mercury is similar to that.

The apparent backward motion of Mercury is called retrograde, and it has been known and studied in western astrology for thousands of years.

In general the effect of Mercury retrograde is annoyance. Little things get snarled up and a low-grade frustration emerges. Anything involving communications, verbal activity, technology, short trips and journeys, primary education, and siblings can be affected.

While Mercury retrograde usually is in the minor irritant category, every now and then a colossal screw-up can take place.

Consider the Bush-Gore 2000 American presidential election in Florida. Now there’s a classic colossal screw-up. For reasons best known to the Americans, they chose to have their 2000 presidential election on the day when Mercury retrograde energy peaked, called stationary direct. Oh, my goodness. In the end, after weeks of wrangling and legal battles, George W. Bush was declared the winner.

History now records what a mess he made of virtually everything he did, a classic Mercury retrograde presidency.

FWIW, astrologers, too, learned much from that election. For instance, prior to the Florida election I had always thought a dimpled Chad was a good-looking man.

With only a small amount foresight here are the precautions you can take to prevent colossal screw-ups in your life during the next Mercury retrograde:

·         If at all possible, avoid signing legal documents.

·         If at all possible, finish projects which involve communication before the retrograde.

·         If at all possible, avoid closing big deals during the retrograde

·         If at all possible, avoid launching new projects during the retrograde

·         If at all possible, avoid scheduling meetings to make a big decision

·         Allow extra time when traveling

·         Backup your hard drive before the retrograde

·         If at all possible, avoid installing new computer software during the retrograde

·         Do needed repairs on machinery before the retrograde

·         Do not hold an election during the retrograde

This is not to say Mercury retrograde is always a bad thing. Far from it. It is actually an ideal time to do some other things, like:

·         Do the follow-ups on a project already started

·         Wrap up or complete a project already started

·         Research a new project thoroughly

·         Catch up on paperwork

·         Hold an information-sharing meeting

·         Enjoy someone’s wacky sense of humor

To find out how Mercury retrograde might affect you personally usually requires a fair knowledge of astrology (which could take months or years to learn) or a visit to your friendly local astrologer who can check the unique placements in your natal chart and guide you appropriately.

Check the table below for the next few times when Mercury will be retrograde. Note that the retrograde is particularly strong at the very beginning and the very end. These beginning and ending points are called stations by astrologers.

All dates and times are GMT, Greenwich Mean Time, so you will have to do a conversion to your local time zone. A conversion table for standard time zones is listed below as well.

First Post

Posted by roseredd on January 25, 2008

Okay, lets give it a try. I have fussed with this all day and still do not know anything. I think it would help if some of you would send me back a note. I think we will have to take this one day at a time. I think we can communicate back and forth while I take my time learning to ‘dress up’ the site.
